Fulgunthur has two fairly easy puzzles. Fulgunthur can be found here:
The first is a little weird because I hadn’t found the in-game solution for it, I just had to do it with trial and error. This process was simple enough, but I have been there before hand and I remember that it was a little harder. Maybe it randomizes either the position of the pillars or the order, nevertheless I found that, from left to right, the image showing outwards of the semi circle arrangement that the pillars stand in has to be Eagle, Fish and then Snake. Let me know if this worked for you, I would be interested to know. I had to turn the middle pillar once and the pillar that is closest to the pillar about one whole turn and one or two third turns.
Later you run into two lowered gates and four levers. I found that you have to pull the two foremost leavers, that is the levers that are furthest away from the two lowered gates.
In Fulgunthur I did find a whole new quest, you have to collect three amulets, unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to look at the first I collected to find out whether or not that quest is worth it, but I will be sure to write a guide for that quest later and post a link here. The other two amulets are not in Fulgunthur.
Skyborn Altar is another location of a word of power that is only guarded by a dragon. Usually it is fairly easy to defeat a dragon by finding some overhead and side cover for the dragons attacks because the dragon can’t attack inside cover. Once you are inside cover use a bow and arrow to shoot the dragon. When you reach low health retreat and restore your health by using magic. However, at the Skyborn Altar there is no overhead cover so defeating the dragon on higher difficulties is very hard for a weaker/low level character. The Skyborn Altar can be found:
Rannveig’s Fast is actually fairly fun to go through. You can avoid a lot of trouble and time with this guide though so make sure you read the whole post before you start this dungeon.
First you will have to travel to North Cold Rock Pass which can be found:
Inside the pass you will find a few easy enemies that you should have no problem with dispatching off. Then you get to Ranveig’s Fast. Inside it will seem as though the word of power is very close, but in the passage just in front of the wall that has the word written on it there is a trap door that will activate when you walk over it. Walk on the right or left of it on the slightly elevated rock to avoid falling down, collect the treasure and learn the word of power and you are good to go back outside the dungeon.
However, I like to explore caves to their full extend. You have two options of doing this. The first is that you can walk into the trap on purpose which will mean that you fall into a cage below which you either have to lock pick open or kill Sild the Warlock and get the key off his dead body. The lock is an expert lock which may be difficult to pick if you don’t have a large supply of lockpicks.
The way I like to keep exploring is by going down the cave which you would normally have to walk up to get to the word of power. This way you can explore without being trapped and surprise slid with an arrow in the back.
The only thing that you will find at the Killkreath Ruins is the word of power “Air” of the “Elemental Fury” shout. There are no enemies, unless the dragon wasn’t there when I went t this place. There is a altar nearby were you can collect a quest. You can find the Killkreath Ruins here:
