To get through the death trap in the river pass in God of War: Ascension throw the axe at the orange side of the turning plate until the spikes are all the way up:

Throw the axe at the revolving panel to raise the spikes in The River Pass in God of War: Ascension.

Then throw the axe at the glowing area below the turning panel:

To lock the spikes in place throw the axe at the blue area below the revolving panel in The River Pass in God of War: Ascension.

Jump across below the spikes and complete the fight using your fists. After the fight, recall your axe and throw it at the top right of the spike wall ahead twice:

Then you can escape the death trap.
