For now there seems to be a bug where the Katakan higher vampire heals faster than you can do damage. He also seems to regenerate when he hits Gerald or Triss and you can’t do anything about the latter. I suggest you avoid the quest for now and come back once you are higher level where you will be able to one-shot Katakan the higher vampire.

Use thunderbolt and Dont give the vamp much room. I’m a level 12 and I killed it within 10 secs after dying a lot of course. But the thunderbolt did him in fast

Tried this guys tip after countless failures, it worked first try. I am level 12 now though and it wasnt easy, but seeing how weird his health mechanic is, i think this is the route to go if you want to take him down before level 20 something.
Just Queen then keep attacking. That’s what I did it’s on death march mode and I’m level 15.
playing this on deathmarch, and I dont have the potion I would need to kill it. GG
Difficulty all the way down. Beat him first try with no spells this way. As soon as you get in the room rush him. Over real quick if you can get him in the corner.
No bug ….just must have a strong silver sword i used (Eirlthrad) magic item required level 8 …also used sign of Axii to slow him down enough to get critical hits …he can b beat fellow Witchers
I agree, but the quest is marked level 12 I think and it should be possible to beat the wolf at that level with average gear, hence why it seems like a bug. I came back at level 20 with good gear and was able to beat him.
