To free the griffin climb up the books to the right, squeeze through the iron bars with the little brother:

Climb until you almost get to a platform. Jump to the left to the handle:

Jump the little brother to the handle

Walk the big brother under the little brother and jump up to the little brother. Walk up to the bird with the big brother and interact with it.
